Our Hong Kong office was established in 1988.

Our lawyers practise local and international law, with a focus on banking and financial services; investment funds, insurance and reinsurance; litigation and regulatory investigations; corporate and commercial (including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and private equity); real estate and infrastructure projects; communications, media and technology; and intellectual property. Recent experience includes:

• advised CSR Building Products Limited on its recent agreement to sell 100 per cent of its Asian insulation, panels and trading businesses to Rockwool Group for A$128 million;
• acted for World Bank Group member International Finance Corporation and IFC Capitalization Fund in their US$140 million investment in Bank South Pacific Limited, Papua New Guinea's biggest retail and commercial bank;
• acting for Goodman Interlink Limited in obtaining a HK$1.2 billion non-recourse construction facility from a syndicate of banks comprising CITIC Ka Wah, ING bank, OCBC and Natixis;
• acted for the lenders in the US$145 million syndicated loan to Right Lane Limited, the wholly owned subsidiary of PRC entity Legend Group Holdings Limited. The lenders include Natixis, Bank of East Asia, Wing Lung Bank, China Merchants Bank and Bank of China (Macau Branch);
• acted as sole counsel for Goodman China Finance for a US$56 million cross-border financing arranged jointly by Société-Gérale Asia and Standard Chartered Bank; and
• advising on insurance claims relating to the collapse of Lehman Brothers and the misselling of Lehman Brothers Minibonds.

Increasingly, we are working with Chinese companies interested in entering the Australian market. Our team comprises Australian and Chinese bilingual lawyers, who have hands-on experience working in both countries and are well versed in the issues facing their investors.
